Q: Marital debt.
My divorce decree states that $34,000 in credit card debt ( in my name) and $4000 ( in his name) is martial and we are both liable for half. However in the decree where the judge orders my ex to pay some of my attorney fees ($3000) it reads that the court took this into consideration when the the court did not order husband to share in Wife’s marital credit card account balance. Every attorney I ask is confused with her wording... so he owes me $3000. But I still owe all 34,000 plus half of his credit card debt? Doesn’t seem fair
A: The original order needs to be reviewed in order to try to spell out the Courts intention.
