Q: Im 18 and on probation in Michigan and I’m dating a 16 year old girl. Is this illegal?

A: It depends on what you are on probation for. If you were convicted of a sex offense, contact with minors might violate a condition of your parole. If you were convicted of something other than a sex offense, then mere "dating" is generally not illegal. But a physical relationship could be, if you're a family member, teacher, coach, school administrator, counselor/therapist, or in another position of authority re: the 16 year old. The age of consent in Michigan is 16, but it's best for adults not to be romantically involved with minors.
