A: You could do that, or you might be able to go through your carrier in a first-party claim, depending on your policy. If your policy covers the loss, your carrier could then pursue damages through the other driver's policy (provided that liability is conceded by Farmers - which seems to be an open and pending matter until their insured tells them their version of the accident). Maybe a first step could be to see if a Hawaii accident attorney would give you a free or quick paid consult as to what your most-cost effective course of action could be. Good luck
