Q: My landlord has asked me to move out and wants me to name a figure amount to move. Do I have to move ?
My landlord has stated that there are not problems with my tenancy...that my rent has always been on time and I've never received any complaints.
But he as asked me to move, stating : " there's money involved", and he wants ( me ) to name the figure amount to be considered.
I'm a senior citizen whose in a rent controlled building in Oakland, Ca for 14 years. I really don't want to move. I've told him I will consider looking for senior housing but that I am not ready to move at this time.
He's already informed me that I can say "no", but I am afraid there will be repercussions if I do say no. I would like to close our discussions about this because he keeps "pressing me" for meetings, and it's becoming stressful.
What are my rights in this situation? Can I just say that I'm not interested at this time and thereby close these discussions? Isn't there a limit as to how much he can contact me regarding these discussions? Or do I have to move ?
A: Next time he approaches you tell him to contact your attorney. Choose a Tenant lawyer near you and that will be the end of it!!!
