Irving, TX asked in Child Custody for Texas

Q: I moved in with my Mother will this affect custody of my child?

I moved in with my Mother in order to save money and cut down on living expenses in order to go to college. I saved money for many years to be able to afford it and saved enough so the child has access to all the same things as before. I’ve recently began taking classes and plan to be a full time student next year. My child’s father is acting very upset about this. Can I lose custody of my child? The home is very stable, and my Mother isn’t a criminal or a bad person, but will a judge see that I’m only going to school and living off what I have in savings instead of working and want to give custody to the father?

A: In general just make sure that your child is well cared for and that the child has its own room if possible. A lot of courts believe that is important. Good luck with your life.
