Q: A dog with a shock collar was found in our Louisville neighborhood about six weeks ago. Original finder searched LMAS
and KHS but no lost report was posted for dog. Nextdoor and Facebook posts got no response either. I have had the dog in my possession for several days and posted her as found on the LMAS website. How long before I can claim legal ownership and is it legal for me to have her spayed? Btw, she is not chipped.
A: It’s been more than enough time if someone was going to claim her. Take the listings down, take her to your vet and have her spayed, chipped and vetted. She is now your dog.
