Q: Airbags failed to deploy in high velocity accident. Officer urged to inquire because of his fear of safety from this
Accident velocity was 60-70mph upon impact. The vehicle that the air bags failed in rear ended another that was coming to a slow on a highway. Police officer urged driver to contact Honda because of the amount of damage and obvious force of impact from the damage. There were no injuries and the vehicle's passanger side air bag was recalled in 2017, and has been confirmed to of been repaired and faulty parts replaced after that recall. As of today a Honda service assistant confirmed there were no pending recalls on the vehicle and that all parts were up to par recall/safety wise. There were no injuries, and I would be seeking no compensation in that context. The vehicle has been driven for almost 8 years by same owner and never been in accident that would require airbag deployment. Should I take any action/ cautionary measures especially with dealing with the maker?
A: If you weren't hurt you don't have a claim other than making a claim for them to fix it. However much depends on the dynamics--generally, airbags only deploy if the hit is plus or minus 5 degrees off top center.
