Owensboro, KY asked in Animal / Dog Law for Kentucky

Q: I was cited today from the police department for for animal nuisance and animal as prizes what does this mean?

2 of my german shepherds who live Inside the house and are put outside in a large fenced in area vot out of outside area somehow and were running the neighbor hood. My neighbor called the police instead of coming and letting me know. When police came up to notify us they were out and we were able to get them back inside house with out incident. However the officer cited my husband with a ticket and a court date. It states " he was cited for animal nuisance and animal as prize prohibited. I understand the animal nuisance due to the being at large when officer arrived but I dont understand animal as prize prohibited can u please explain what this charge is and why it may have been cited for this reason?

A: It is probably a charging error. It’ll likely just be the nuisance charge when it’s said and done.
