Garland, TX asked in Criminal Law and Collections for Louisiana

Q: Are you required to continue to pay a monthly supervision fee after becoming incarcerated?

I paid all my monthly fees while out on probation. I actually paid 75$ a month, whereas i was only ordered to pay 63$. I was was let off early for good behavior & was told all my fees were paid up & i was done. Shortly after i get a Governors Pardon. Then a bit later, i begin getting letters saying i still owe x amount of money. I called the local probation office & was informed that even while incarcerated i had to continue to send in a monthly payment. I have never heard of this before, neither has anyone one else ive spoken to who has been on supervision & made monthly payments while out, went to jail while on supervision, got out & been told they had to pay for their time incarcerated. I didnt think Louisiana's jails were pay to stay programs?

A: They're not and you don't owe it. Send your P.O.a copy of proof.of.period of incarceration.
