Q: Can a felon restore their gun rights in Texas?

A: thanks for your question. Unfortunately I doubt very much you can get gun rights re-established once there is a felony conviction. I know some lawyers claim to get people reinstated, but I have never seen it accomplished.

However, there may be hope because other type of weapons are being manufacture that do not meet the classification of "firearm" because they use C02 cartilages that hurl 30 caliber projectiles through the air so they will be legal to hunt with. Of course the legislature could PROHIBIT someone convicted of a felony from possessing those weapons also. Good luck to you.
