Lake Charles, LA asked in Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and Cannabis & Marijuana Law for Louisiana

Q: Illegal search (I messed up on my first question)

The cops were called to my home because of an argument between my spouse. They were beating on the door and screaming for us to come out. My spouse opened the door and had their tasers pointed at my spouse. So he took a step back because he got nervous. They yanked him out of our home onto the ground and cuffed him. I, then came to the door and they put me in handcuffs. One officer walks in our home and start looking in all of our rooms. We told him that he did not have permission and asked why. He said he could because he was making sure no one else was inside. He found weed and a pipe. My spouse got charged with possession and paraphernalia. All I want to know is if what the officer did was legal or illegal.
