Evansville, IN asked in Animal / Dog Law for Kentucky

Q: I aptd dog went to spay she prego they say the own puppies? I want them. Who owns puppies

I adopted a dog from Henderson co humane society in Kentucky they put her under two weeks later to spay her and find out she is pregnant. They told me the puppies are theirs? How is that when i had adopted her before they knew? I dont want them taking the puppies and having financial gain over them when the mom is mine. They also wetn back and refused to allow me to pay any adoption fees saying i can keep mom free since i have puppies at my house for fostering. I do not want them taking these puppies. They are goldendoodle pups. And have been forcing theirselves into my home weekly to see the pups since they were born. So who legally owns the pups?

A: If you adopted the dog and she was pregnant and they didn’t catch it, the puppies are yours. They don’t have any right to the puppies nor do they have any right to come in your house. Don’t let them come in again.
