Tewksbury, MA asked in Traffic Tickets for North Carolina

Q: Are you always automatically guilty when it comes to a speeding ticket in Onslow County, NC?

why is there such a mystery surrounding speeding tickets in NC? I don't understand why they cannot be addressed. My daughter opted to go to court on the date shown on the citation as she felt she was innocent of speeding. The first time she went there was no judge so they continued. Same thing the second time (no judge) but then they told her to stand in one of two lines.....she was confused but managed to get it continued again. Does the officer to gave her the ticket need to show? How is she to defend herself.

A: You how when you car is making a grinding sound and you are not a mechanic you go see a mechanic? Well the same holds true for legal work. When you have a court issue and you aren't an attorney - you don't try to crack into it and represent yourself - you hire a traffic attorney. Had she done that, she would not have had to waste two trips and her time standing in confusing lines and her ticket would be resolved likely with no insurance increase or license points. Likely for around $375 which at least with our firm she could have take a leisurely 3 or 4 months to pay off. As to whether she is 'automatically' guilty of course not but who do you think a Judge is going to believe a train police office or a girl who feels she is innocent? Just call us at (910 333-9679 or she can go waste some more time and likely be found responsible / guily of what she was charged with and see an insurance increase and license points.
