Etna, CA asked in Criminal Law for California

Q: I've been charged with 10885, has something to do with a rental car. I paid for the rental 3900+ $? What do I do?

There were extenuating circumstances, I filed two incident reports and had the vehicle towed to the nearest hertz car rental at the airport. However the staff could not unlock the trunk where my wheelchair was located nor return my wallet or cell phone located in the cars secret panel behind the infotainment screen on the dash. So the manager gassed up the vehicle and instructed they would be in touch when they obtained a solution and that they would call me and let me know. So I awaited instructions. The instructions came by way of threats from a repo man who worked for the company? I explained to him what the situation was and awaited appropriate response. Wht I received was anything but appropriate, he threatened me, didn't know what the vehicle was or anything about its security featured nor did he care that I was unable to retrieve my wheelchair from the vehicle or my personal affects ie wallet and personal information. He instructed me to call a locksmith, there is no keyhole?!?

A: more info needed.

were you in accidents?

did you take out insurance or have it on another car?

when you went to car rental did you turn in or take it back?

i would think a car dealer of the same brand might be able to help you.

if a repossessor is involved i am assuming you are behind on payments or did not turn the car in timely? Is that right?

if you are damaged you can sue in small claims for up to $10k or a little more
