Asked in Traffic Tickets for New Jersey

Q: Received letter of failure to appear in court for traffic violation 39:4-138(i). I did not receive a ticket on my car.

I hired a car on holiday in NJ and my hire company has charged me $100 for a parking ticket they received (39:4-138(i) Improper parking within 10 feet of a fire hydrant $54). There was no ticket attached to the car. Is the ticket lawful?

A: The ticket would generally be lawful, but of course that is up to the judge if you had taken the case to court since the standard is so low most tickets end in a conviction.
