A: Depending on the exact contents of the message, it could be criminal Harassment punishable by up to 180 days in county jail and a fine up to $2,000. If the threat could reasonably be interpreted as a threat for violence then it could be classified as Dating Violence and the person could seek a 2-year protective order forbidding you from contacting either one of them or being in the same place at the same time... you would be required to leave even if they showed up later.

If you committed Harassment more than once, it could be felony Stalking punishable by 2 to 10 years in the state penitentiary and a fine up to $10,000. Stalking can also be the basis for a LIFETIME protective order.

Your best bet may be to block both of them on your phone and social media and never contact either of them again or even communicate through mutual friends.
