Q: What would cause a delay in medical records being sent to an insurance adjuster?
A: Delays in medical records can be caused by multiple parties and multiple issues. Usually a delay in medical records comes from an issue with the HIPPA Authorization that was sent by the requesting party. However, other times the third party services who process medical records request for the doctor or hospital misplaces or never receives the initial request. Some medical providers will send the medical records without payment for them. Others will not send the medical records until they receive payment for the records.
