A: A North Carolina attorney is best suited to answer your question, but you await an answer for four weeks. As a GENERAL premise for motor vehicle accidents in MANY jurisdictions, time lost from work to attend doctor visits or physical therapy is not usually compensated as part of basic economic loss-type damages (the category of damages that include medical expenses, lost wages, transportation, etc.). It often comes out of sick time, personal time, or is done after work. It could POSSIBLY become part of damages your attorney claims as additional damages in your bodily injury claim, but in the course of negotiations, it could also be lost in the mix, especially if the pain and suffering element of your award is proportionately much larger. Good luck
