Q: Legally keeping a dog

My cousin starting dog sitting for a dog and the dog has lived with her for a year. She finally register and licensed in KY she has paid over 3000 for food, grooming and vet Bill's. The dog became very sick and she took care of it. The dog is having surgery on Wed and the orignal owners has only seen the dog maybe 3 times. And they have never gave her a penny for anything. Can she legally keep the dog?? They are threatening her with taking her to court. Also the orignal owners can not have a dog where they live at. Please help!!

A: If the neighbor pays all the costs, expenses and money associated with the care of the dog, then she can get the dog back. If the neighbor doesn’t pay all costs and expenses, you can keep the dog.
