A: You can go to the county clerk where you got divorced and obtain a certified copy of the divorce judgment. A marraige license for your subsequent marraige is not proof of divorce, and if you were not legally divorced, it would be proof of your bigamy. Go to the clerk and get a copy of your divorce papers.

A: A marriage license would only be proof if you were required to present a certified copy of your divorce decree before obtaining the marriage license. The best course of action, is to go to the county clerks office in the county you were divorced in and get a certified copy of the divorce judgment. You should keep if so that there is never a question about your divorce.
