A: Of course the matter should have been reported and recorded in the medical record. Get a copy and expect a call from Risk Management. Beware of quick settlements if there is possible long term disability and even future surgery. Settlements are final. You have 6 months to file a formal claim if a Government hospital and 2 years if private. Get a lawyer if it’s a serious injury.
