Marrero, LA asked in Child Support and Family Law for Kentucky

Q: Is there anything I can do about my current child support situation? How is she getting away with this? Can I get help?

I have been split from my Ex-wife for 14 years. After her drawing out our divorce so she could make sure we were married for 10 years to reap benefits, we divorced 12 years ago. I have to pay child support weekly for our 3 children, it’s automatically drafted from my checks. She allowed our oldest son to quit high-school, he is almost 21 and has a child of his own, lives with his fiancé. (I paid and took him get a GED last year) Our oldest daughter is 19 and lives with her boyfriend. Neither attend college. The only child I still have at her home is 16. The only times I have not paid child support is when my company has laid me off. Last year work was declining. My unpaid child support for these older children added up fast. My ex is now coming after me for the unpaid payments, the deductions on my checks increased, my stimulus check is now being held, and my current wife and 2 younger children are suffering. How can I stop my ex from impacting my current families life?

A: You should make a motion in your divorce case to modify your support and get it to the correct number.
