Louisville, KY asked in Divorce for Kentucky

Q: I have been separated from my wife since 2015. We have filed before but weren't able to go to mediation.

We separated on good terms and have a daughter and house together. Custody has never been an issue and I have agreed to sign off my rights to the house. We have worked out everything amongst ourselves. We married in Kentucky but lived in Indiana for 10+ years. I've since moved back to Kentucky. We filed before but were required to do mediation sessions due to having a minor child. Our schedules were too busy to make the meetings so it was thrown out. Is there a way to divorce without all of the unnecessary steps? Can I file in Kentucky though we lived in Indiana? We have been successfully managing custody and child support (with signed receipts) for 5 years. Surely there's an easier more convenient way to end the legal ties.

A: You can file in Kentucky. File your agreement. If everything is agreed upon, you don’t have to go to mediation. The judge will enter a decree as soon as everything is in order.
