Q: Hello, I am currently a college student looking at law as a potential future career.
I was wondering if this would be a good place to start asking questions and if not, is there another chat forum that I could utilize to get a better understanding about this particular career field?
A:
The reason this free legal advice forum was created is to allow people who have legitimate legal questions to ask the Justia panel of experienced lawyers, who decide whether or not to answer.
So it seems safe to say that curious college students who want to "chat" with experienced lawyers about all matters legal--in their understandable quest to decide whether their planned future study and possible practice of law is a good fit--does not fit here.
However, I am unaware of any law or rule--or Justia corporate policy--that prevents your asking open-ended questions unrelated to ongoing legal problems. Nor is there any law, rule or personal policy forcing lawyers to "chat."
Good luck making the most momentous decision of your life.

You could be better off in a forum where you actively engage in dialogue with other students who are also considering a legal career. Here, it's a basic question and answer format, and that might not be the most efficient way to learn the broad and general information you seek. You could look at the questions and responses here to get an idea of the different AREAS of law. There are lots of books and videos out there for what you are seeking. Good luck
