Asked in Copyright and Trademark

Q: Can getting a furby printed on a blanket for none profit and none commercial reasons, one time, be seen as fair use?

I have already asked for permission from Hasbro but they said they can't as there's too many requests and they can't accept minor requests. I won't be making any profit off this and it's for none commercial use and will only be done once. seller is only profiting from printing an image they won't be making any extra money for printing a furby. If this were brought to hasbro's attention, could it be seen as fair use because it's none profit and none commercial and is only been made once? Also, this is just something to go on my bed and to take to hospital to comfort me before surgery, so I'm not really doing anything bad with it.

A: While what you propose is a copyright infringement, the likelihood of Hasbro going after you is low. Provided it is as you say, a one-off, not posted on social or other media, but simply made for your personal use, the de minimis effect would likely weigh in your favor as for Hasbro's decision on any action. However, it is wise to be aware and to raise questions, as copyright infringement can easily occur without knowing it.

A: As an add-on to my earlier comment, whether the printer is willing to or should make the copy of the image for your blanket is another matter.
