Atlanta, GA asked in Constitutional Law for Kentucky

Q: As a factory worker in KY, is my freedom of speech protected in the workplace?

I work for Quad Graphics, a book printing factory in KY. We are required to wear facemasks due to COVID-19 (Which I have no problem with). Given recent events in the country regarding the Deaths of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd, I plan to wear a facemask to work next week with "I cant breathe" written on the front. For some strange reason I'm afraid I will either be asked to remove it, or maybe even be fired if they do ask and I refuse. What are my rights in a situation like this? Am I protected under Freedom of Speech?

A: Not if it is disruptive in the work place. KY is an at will employment state which means they can fire you for any reason or no reason. I’d pick a battle elsewhere so you don’t wind up unemployed.
