Flushing, MI asked in Traffic Tickets for Michigan

Q: I got a ticket for crossing an electronic railroad signal.

I got a ticket for crossing an electronic railroad signal. When I look up MCL 257.667 it says that when the signal is flashing you must come to a complete stop and only proceed when it is safe to do so. There was no crossing gate, barrier, or cop directing traffic. I did come to a complete stop, which the officer noted on the ticket, I saw the train to my right and could see it was moving very slowly at a safe distance, so I proceeded. A cop on the other side did a U-turn (which also was before the train arrived) and said it was not safe and gave me a ticket. If I have an informal hearing, do you see any likelihood of me having an argument that I did follow the MCL?
