Kansas City, MO asked in Child Support for Oklahoma

Q: I see how i can still owe the child support that was ordered during the time i still had my rights. But my rights for

Both children were relinquished a long time ago. And the child support web portal shows that i am still being charged every month. The oldest of the two children i relinquished my rights to over 2 years ago. And the youngest was last year in august. And the payment amount on both children do not make any sense either. So is this something they can do and get away with? Do i have to pay all of those months and years back to them even the charges made during the time i haven't had my rights? I didn't get my stimulus money because of the back child support i owe. And i am not in any shape to pay any amount to the state and really needed that money. And if they are wrong on the fact they are still charging me and if i do get the amount i owe straightened out to what is legally right then are they going to go back and apply my stimulus to the right amount which i believe is in the range of $8-9000 for both kids or is it still only applied to $19,000 for both kids they claim i owe.plzhelpme

A: When parental rights are terminated that terminates rights, not obligations.  Child support is still paid unless/until the child is adopted.  If there is an adoption that stops support. If there is not an adoption support continues.

You should have an attorney review your case so they can help you determine whether or not you should be paying support now.
