Q: I work for a chain grocery store here in Florida. I was out for 9 days waiting on my test results to get back.

I did not receive pay. Can my company do this to its employees

A: Generally, yes, unless the company has a policy, or you have a contract, giving you paid leave under those circumstances.

A: If you were out sick due to COVID-19 and coronavirus testing, you could take up to 2 weeks of paid leave if you request it correctly from the company. You should document your medical leave with doctors' notes and request plus you should speak to an employment attorney to make sure you're doing it correctly. Sometimes there are laws that can help, such as FMLA but if you do not go through the process correctly, you get not benefits and can be fired, not paid, etc.
