Q: My new landlord has threatened me with eviction
I've lived in this rent control 4-plex for over 17 years, new LL made it clear she wants me out, told me she wants to evict me. I pay at least $600 less per mo than other tenants. Recently LL installed cameras w/audio, she has stated are for me, not for trespassers. My windows have no screen coverage, pipes have been taped for leaks and my entrance door is loose on hinges which they have never fixed after notifying LL over 2 years ago. The neighbor's dog defecates everywhere, is allowed to roam freely, chases me barking. LL has clearly made alliance with them. False 3-day notice has been given to me with absolutely no merit, total fiction stated by the neighbors she is working with. I have taken pics, wanted to report complaints to Health & Housing dept but a friend in same situation (apparently Landlords do this in rent control) told me best to keep up with my journal and find a good attorney. I've called Basta, etc but they only want racism cases. What is my recourse?
A: check the latest rules for your county regarding eviction s during Corona virus times. The Governor has sopken about this issue but your county Board has surely passed ordinance regarding LL's ability to pursue evictions. I do not believe tyhey can evicxt you during this time. Continue paying your rent and keep up your journal and take lots of videos and pictures. Do not get into any arguments with anyone and document any warranty of habitability issues. Best of luck.
