A: The District Attorney will present the case to a Grand Jury who will decide if enough evidence exists to file criminal charges or not. If so, an indictment will be filed, the case will be assigned to a district court and a court date will be given. At that time, your boyfriend will be given the opportunity to review the evidence the State has in the case and he can decide if he wants to have a trial in the case or accept any plea bargain offered. Start talking with attorneys. Good luck.

A: I agree with everything attorney Grant St. Julian III said and I would add that if he is still in jail he needs to be bonded out so that the stress and anxiety of being locked up won't cause him to consider accepting a plea for if he is innocent because a conviction carries life-long consequences.

A: I agree with the other answers and emphasize that he needs a criminal defense lawyer on board to help him through this situation. The court will appoint him one, if he is indigent. Best of Luck!
