Q: Can a parent go to court in a different parish where neither parent lives when going for child custody?
My wife has 3 boys by her ex husband and her ex brought her to court in Allen parish but neither of them live in Allen. He lives in Vernon and she lived in Rapides parish at the time. This happened a few years ago and we are trying to find out what we can do to get custody of the boys back to her. Please help me and my wife.
A: Hire a custody lawyer. If they original custody was in Allen Parish, then yes Allen had jurisdiction.
