Bardwell, KY asked in Divorce for Kentucky

Q: What should I do next?

I was recently served divorce papers by my husband. We’ve been separated for a year. It is definitely not reconcilable. We bought a house using mostly funds from his 401k; but not in its entirety. He was severely mentally abusive to the point I had to see several specialists because they thought I had a stroke and was unable to work for half a year. I’m still battling with long term effects from this. There is debt acquires in the marriage and he wants me to pay for half of everything but still reside in the home and keep everything. He also used $5,000 of monies from a home equity loan to pay off someone for drugs. He has drug charges as well involving his minor son. I’m not sure where to even start with this. I’ve tried to be civil with him but he just continues to be verbally abusive. I am also on his health insurance but he also reported our Benny card as lost/stolen so I can’t use this for meds/medical services. I don’t know where to start. What do I say when I call a lawyer? Thx

A: You need to immediately find and consult a divorce lawyer who can help you. As for what to say, start from the beginning, tell him everything, and don’t leave anything out.
