Q: What does R30 means in North Carolina for land

Wanted to build a home and I just wanted to know what all that means R30 zoning

A: Since you are writing from Fla., it is unlikely that a NC attorney will see your post, but even if an NC attorney would see it, he/she would be unlikely to know, off the top of his/her head, what that zoning category means because such zoning code numbers are unique to each local jurisdiction. You first determine which zoning jurisdiction you're in (county or municipality), then you either look up the zoning code for that jurisdiction (probably on-line), or you call the planning and zoning office for that jurisdiction - which most places call "planning and zoning", but some call it something else, such as "community development". In general, the letter "R" in a zoning code means residential. The "30" might mean "up to 30 feet high" or "up to 30 stories high", or might have nothing to do with the height.
