Q: Mom is drinking heavily, verbally abusive towards our 2 y.o. and refusing to watch her/pay sitter. Can I moveoutofstate?
My daughter lives with me, and mom is only supposed to watch her while I work, around 50 hours a week. She lost someone close to her 3 weeks ago and has been drinking heavily, taking drugs, and called off 8 out of 13 days she was supposed to watch her since then. When she has watched her she drinks alcohol, sleeps, is extremely short tempered and verbally abusive. She was paying a sitter which I found but now isn't. I can't afford to stay here with the added financial responsibility but have resources including an equal paying job, a place to move into, and childcare for when I work all readily available in NC. Mom has been extended this opportunity immediate or at a later date as well but refuses. She also refuses to allow my daughter and I to go, even considering her condition. I've tried to get her to sign something giving permission to do this without changing our oral custody agreement, without luck. Do I need to file for sole custody in order to resolve this mess?
