Q: I've been told that in the state of Florida a father who never been married has no rights to his children. Is this tru
A: As an unmarried father you must file with the court to establish your rights to the child. There is no default meaning that it does not happen automatically. Mother has all rights until you go to court.
Yes this is true. Until a potential father asserts his rights in the Court, he has no rights. You should consult with and retain a family law attorney to help establish your rights. Most JUSTIA attorneys offer a free initial consultation. Contact one of us today and let us know you found us on JUSTIA. Good luck.
