Asked in Copyright and Intellectual Property

Q: Hi there, I am a content creator on Instagram. My content has been flagged for false DMCA and copyright strikes.

I am a content creator on Instagram and recently, my own artwork was flagged as infringing the copyright of a third party. Instagram shared the details of the third party that flagged my own artwork for copyright; and it linked back to two domains. mailvat.com and mailvs.net. I did some research and I discovered that both of these domains are known to be "disposable domains" and are used for fraudulent activity such as false DMCA and copyright strikes. I suspect that these domains have been made to harass and disrupt my business page with these fraudulent false strikes. My issue is that, because these are false domains, linked to the email addresses missaiseuki@mailvat.com and danielad@mailvs.net, my legal team cannot combat the false strikes as there is next to no information provided about the third party that owns these domains. I don't know what to do.

A: Instagram should have provided you with instructions for submitting a counter-notification. Instagram should restore your content if the third-party doesn't reply, which it sounds like they won't since they used disposable domains.
