Q: What kind of lawyer do we need?
My husband accidentally dropped our 8 week old daughter and broke her leg. We are going through the DCFS process and are also being investigated by Illinois State Police. If charges are pressed, they could potentially be for aggravated assault against a child. If this happens, would we need someone who specializes in criminal law, or someone else? Thank you.
A: You would need a Criminal Defense Attorney and one that also does DCFS Appeals. This can be the same attorney if you hire the right one. Since to Police are currently involved, you need to hire an attorney now. The sooner you hire an attorney, the better. DO NOT speak with the police any further without an attorney by your side.
