Bakersfield, CA asked in DUI / DWI for California

Q: I got a DUI 17 years ago before I had a license. Had a valid license for the last 14 years and they just suspended me.

I got a DUI 17 years ago (3/04) in California BEFORE I had a license. I served prison time on a unrelated charge. I paroled in 2007 and completely changed my life. I went to DMV and got a license when I paroled. Ever since then I have never had a problem renewing my license until this last time. DMV said the DUI from 17 years ago popped up and they suspended my DL immediately and said I have to do a 90 day DUI class. I work for an electrical company that requires me to have a valid DL. DMV said I'm not eligible for a restricted or anything. They said I have zero options until completion of the program. I REALLY don't remember getting this DUI in 04, at that time I was facing some pretty serious charges looking at 8 years in prison and I guess I pleaded guilty to the DUI. I had no idea it was on my record. I'm already on a waiting list for the program and I added SR22 to my insurance. I'm just wondering is there anything I can do to speed up the process?

A: Many alcohol schools are online now. Ask them if you can speed up the classes. 4xweek? 5xweek?
