Q: What happens if you miss a court date for fines? Fines were accrued due to being hit but driving on suspended license.
My husband got hit while he was driving home from work last year (august 2019). He was driving on suspended license. Court date was in June of 2019 and he couldn’t pay any on them then, so date got pushed back to December 2020. He missed his court date because we lost the paper work and couldn’t get a hold of anyone to tell us when his date was. If we take $250 to the court house Monday to pay on his fines, will they still take him to jail?
A: They usually issue a warrant for your arrest. $250 might cover the fine and court costs. It’ll be close.
