A: You do not buy a trademark unless you are buying from somebody who is the owner.

IF it is not owned by somebody you need to file for registration.

Consult with an attorney for your options and risks.

A: Buying a trademark that is already in use is not as simple as buying something like a domain name. It is a fairly lengthy legal process that involves valuation, contracts, etc.

If the trademark is not currently being used or registered, you would need to pay the USPTO filing fees, plus attorney's fees if you choose to use an attorney. The USPTO fees are between $225-$375 per categories of goods or services. (These fees are increasing on January 2, 2021 though.) Attorneys fees will vary but usually start around $500.

Note that many popular websites that are cheaper than attorneys only file the paperwork for you, which you could do yourself. They do not run a search or offer any legal advice which could end up costing you a lot more in the long run.
