Asked in Immigration Law

Q: can we get married in Turkey? Or do we have to travel to Abu Dhabi (UAE)?

I am an American citizen. I am working remotely but my residence (my taxes) still in California. I have been traveling overseas for 5 months.

My fiance is a resident in UAE ( Abu Dhabi).

She is a Syrian citizen but she is resident in UAE along with her family.

My fiance and I currently in Turkey.

The goal:

I want to avoid the USA embassy in Turkey because she wants to go back to Abu Dhabi after 6 months.

I want her i130 to be processed and the interview to be scheduled in Abu Dhabi, not in Turkey. Because the interview and the process of interviews are much better in Abu Dhabi.

My question can we get married in Turkey? Or do we have to travel to Abu Dhabi (UAE) and do the marriage in UAE in order for the i130 to be processed via the embassy at Abu Dhabi?

A: The US department of state will recognize as valid any marriage in the world as long as that marriage, where performed, is recognized as valid. Your fiancé can select the consulate that she wants to process her visa at, but the government will have the final say so as to whether the consulate selection is approved.
