Oakland, CA asked in Uncategorized for California

Q: is walgreens liable to compensate me for my property that was stolen while doing what they asked me to do?

I was asked when i enteres the store to leave my bags at the door while i shopped. I complied and went to do my shopping. 5 minutes later the security guard came up to me stating that y bags were stolen, he saw the person who did it, also he said that i coud catch him down at the corner of the street if i ran. i tried to speak to the GM and she told me that it was y fault my stuff was taken and i should have been watching it. Also she said i should have told her i had expensive things in my bags and i didnt. she woulnt file the incident report and said they are not responsible at all for it and to call the police which she wouldnt do for me ( I couldnt my phone was in my stolen bag) she then proceeded to kick me out of the store saying she was very busy. she would not give her name. the security guard who asked me to leave my stuff also claimed no responsibility and said i could have got him at the corner so it was my fault. there was almost $13000 worth of stuff in my bag stolen.

A: Under these circumstances the store could be liable for your property loss. You should consult a personal injury/ property damage attorney in your local area.
