A: It depends on the context. Is this employment or a court case? Lying to another person is not a crime in Kentucky. Lying to a police officer is also typically not a crime but not recommended. Lying to a federal agent is a crime. Lying to a Judge can be a contempt or even a crime of perjury. Lying to a probation officer can be a violation. I would contact an Attorney with your specific fact pattern to determine your exposure.

A: Depends on to whom the lie was told. If it was a state or federal entity, then it is a crime. It can constitute a probation violation in certain circumstsnces.
