A: No. The officer can file it within 30 days and then mail it to you. If it is filed with the court outside of 30 days then you can argue that it is past the statute of limitations. It is a three point moving violation so you should plead not guilty. You should also get a lawyer to help you either fight the ticket or to hopefully reduce the points to zero to a nonmoving violation citation. Good luck
