Q: I received a message from a man stating he was a curator to locate and notify me of a lawsuit for custody against me.
Is There a way to ask the lawyer for time to get a lawyer a legal aid attorney whatever or file for a continuance to do so? He has three other kids he has never paid child support for and a history of felony domestic violence against one of the children as well as me. He has told me that we would sit in front of his lawyer and discuss an arrangement; but that’s not what happened obviously. Since there’s a court date tomorrow. He said he would like to have 50-50 custody but he has nowhere to live! He lives on his mothers couch! so I’m so baffled by the fact that he’s even asking for it considering he does nothing with my son or his other kids he doesn’t call or ask for him other than the times that I ask him to watch him.so what advice can you give me to get me into the right direction because I’m losing my mind about tomorrow!
A: If you just got served with this or were contacted by the Curator recently, then ask for a Continuance to hire an attorney. Then hire a custody lawyer.
