Flushing, MI asked in Civil Rights for Michigan

Q: Can I sue a hospital for discrimination?

I spoke to a few attorneys who told me that the law protects drs during this period due to COVID 19 to an extent anyway, however I am curious if they are protected against discriminating against their patients also? I was very clearly neglected and discriminated against but I can not get anyone to even really look in to the case to help me.I was admitted to Providence Hospital Novi in April of 2020 just when COVID 19 first happened. I was admitted because I was experiencing severe stomach pain, it was almost hard to even breath, It was so painful. I was admitted with no family as it was COVID 19 and then treated by the nursing staff and ER attending physician. I had an CT and it was determined that a stent that I had from a previous surgery had come loose and dislodged from the original site and was making its way through my stomach right when I was at the hospital.  Despite this knowledge the attending ER physician stated that no one was performing any surgery due to COVID 19 continue

A: Not sure you have a discrimination case so much as you might have a malpractice case. Your question does not make clear how you believe you were discriminated against; it sounds like the ER doctors made a medical decision. Whether opting not to perform surgery was the right call is something only another medical doctor can opine on.
