Munfordville, KY asked in Divorce for Kentucky

Q: I'm trying to do the self help divorce paperwork because I can't afford an attorney.

My husband and I have no kids together, we don't own any property or vehicles together, I'm not seeking alimony, keeping it simple.

Some of the papers in the self help packet has to be notarized. Does the court do this when I file the papers, or do I have to have that done elsewhere first?

Also, the VS-300 (divorce certificate) asks for attorney name, address etc but since I'm filing myself do I just leave that blank? Or can I put NA/self-filing?

A: Yes you can participate without an attorney you can list yourself as pro se because you’re representing yourself. It’s always my advice that you hire an attorney. There are notaries available at the courthouse or you can go to a bank and have your signature notarized. You must sign in front of the notary
