Brooklyn, NY asked in Domestic Violence for New Jersey

Q: Hi, is there any lawyer who speaks Turkish around Cliffside Park, NJ. I need a lawyer who knows domestic violence

I am under threatened with eviction by my husband. He told me he will sell his house and throw out my belongings. Can he do this? He wants to divorce without alimony. I am a housewife, 49 ages and a gammy person now. I had a bicycle accident and my husband is a causator (obsolete). He is threatening me continuously. He uses domestic abuse and domestic violence with shouting-yelling every day. He keeps quiet sometimes like doing sth behind me back. He is an harasser, disturbed person at home. He never gives me money because he is so stingy man. We have Cigna family health insurance but he didn’t want to pay my surgery payment that insurance did not cover(almost $5000). He is policy holder he is responsible but he wants to drop my insurance with divorce for not to pay. He is an engineer, 55 ages, He has high salary (above $110.000 annual) and high savings on the stocks in the banks. What can I do? I don’t know what should I do? Could you please help me? I don’t feel in safe.

A: I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. You do need a lawyer. I would think someone in the Turkish community would be able to help find a lawyer who speaks the language. Otherwise you can use a translator. Best of luck.
