A: An owner can always sell property, even if leased to a tenant. But the buyer must honor the lease for the remainder of the lease term. The lease does not end when the property is sold, and so long as the tenant is not currently in default or does not breach the lease, there is no grounds for an eviction. If owner of buyer gives you a notice to vacate, use the Find a Lawyer tab to retain a local real estate attorney to review the situation and advise you.
